No. 10 Saints sink No. 18 Tars in top-20 meeting

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Add another signature win for No. 10 Flagler College in Jonas Piibor's first year at the helm as the Saints defeated No. 18 Rollins College, 6-1, at the Flagler Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.

Flagler improves to 11-4 while Rollins moves to an even 7-7. Flagler has now notched four wins over nationally ranked opponents this year.

Strong doubles play from Flagler secured a 1-0 lead. First doubles featured Oscar Del Granado and Philipp Lemken taking down the No. 25 team in the land of Efe Comu and Mikkel Baumann, 6-2, for the duo's first win against a nationally-ranked opponent. The opening point was secured by the ever-so reliable team of Nikita Tatyanin and Jagger Ong-Patzwald at second doubles, who recorded their eighth straight win with a 6-4 performance.

Singles play was kicked off with Jacopo Denitto putting on a clinic at sixth singles, cruising to his ninth consecutive win, posting a 6-0, 6-1 result.

The next match to conclude resulted in another Flagler win, with No. 68 Lemken rolling to win No. 11 in the spring season with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Flagler continued its strong play with Cedric Holzmann improving to 9-3 in the spring season, winning at fifth singles, 6-2 and 6-4, to clinch the match.

Even though the match was already in-hand, Petr Cervinka earned his 11th win, winning at third singles 6-3, 6-3 to keep the train rolling.

Tatyanin grabbed a win at second singles, his team-high 12th singles win of the spring, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-8. Del Granado battled hard with the No. 6 player in the nation but fell in three sets, 6-2, 6-7 (4), 5-10.

Flagler continues its season next Sunday, April 17th when it welcomes No. 12 Lander University to the Ancient City for a Peach Belt Conference match at 1 p.m.
