ST. AUGUSTINE — In a top-25 matchup in the Ancient City Saturday, the 18th-ranked Flagler College men's tennis team was edged by ninth-ranked Saint Leo University at the Flagler Tennis Center, 5-2.
Philipp Lemken and
Cedric Holzmann were the lone Saints to win their respective sets, coming on courts four and five, as they both won in straight sets. Lemken and Holzmann got back on track after dropping matches versus Keiser University on Saturday, as the doubles duo won in doubles before winning each of their singles' matches for the Saints' two points.
After Flagler was edged in doubles,
Oscar Del Granado,
Petr Cervinka and
Nikita Tatyanin all forced three sets, but were unable to seal the deal to get the Saints the upset victory.
The Saints will aim to bounce back when they travel to No. 15-ranked Embry-Riddle Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. first serve.
