GREENWOOD, S.C. –
Jaizec Lottie scored 21 of his game high 31 points in the second half, but No. 21 (NABC Division II Top 25) Flagler College could not overcome a first half deficit and lost 74-66 to Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Finis Horne Arena.
Lander concluded the regular season with a 13-14 overall record and an 8-10 mark in the Peach Belt. The Bearcats posted a 10-4 record at home. Lander is the No. 6 seed in next week's tournament. Flagler is now 21-6 overall and 14-4 in conference play. The Saints go in as the No. 2 seed and will host the University of North Georgia on Tuesday in a conference tournament quarterfinal at Flagler Gymnasium.
The Bearcats opened the game on a 24-4 run and took a 36-17 lead into the half. Lander held Flagler to 14.3 percent shooting from the floor in the first half, which included 0-for-15 from 3-point range.
The Saints trailed by as many as 21 in the second half, but kept chipping away. A
Chase Fiddler trey pulled Flagler to within four (61-57) with 5:13 left. The Bearcats made back-to-back three-pointers to push the lead back to double figures.
Deshundre Rucker led the Bearcats with 18 points while Dajuan Moorer recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game high 18 rebounds. Deandre Robinson added 12 points and Dominic Stanford tacked on 11 more.
Fiddler finished with 12 points for the Saints, all coming on three-pointers.
Jalen Barr added nine points and a team high 10 rebounds.
