BLUFFTON, S.C. - The Flagler College women's soccer team earned its fourth shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Wednesday afternoon.
"USCB was disciplined and organized, but our team stayed patient," said head coach
Ashley Martin. "We created wonderful opportunities with clever play and eventually found the breakthrough with a great strike from Josefine. In the second half, we controlled the tempo and created more good opportunities, then Elke stepped up with a strike from distance into the top corner."

The Saints (8-2-2, 6-1-1 PBC) got on the board first after
Andrea Fernandez gave a short pass to
Josefine Nilsen from the bottom right corner of the box. Nilsen launched the ball from outside the box and hit the top middle of the net to give Flagler a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.

In the 55th minute,
Andrea Fernandez sent a throw-in to
Elke Fernandez who chipped the ball from the corner of the box into the top left corner of the goal to set the 2-0 final score.
Andrea Fernandez now leads the Peach Belt Conference averaging .600 assists per game.

USC Beaufort (9-4, 3-4 PBC) took six shots on the day, including five in the second half, but goalkeeper
Madison North made three stops in the net to secure the shutout for the Saints.

Flagler controlled the tempo, taking 21 shots, 12 on goal, to USC Beaufort's six shots, three of which were on goal. The Sand Sharks, however, had an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Saints return to St. Augustine for a league match against Albany State University Saturday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. on Saints Field.
