MORROW, Ga. — After a scoreless first half, the floodgates opened at Laker Field as the Flagler College men's soccer team scored a pair and Clayton State University followed with three to edge the Saints, 3-2, in the Peach Belt Conference match Saturday afternoon.
Matteo Costa and
Christian Wnuk connected twice to put Flagler (2-4, 1-2 PBC) in the driver's seat five minutes into the second half; however, seven minutes after the duo's second goal, the Lakers (4-3-2, 3-0-1) cut the deficit in half.
In the 57th minute, Langston Blackstock scored the first, and then the equalizer came six minutes later from Brad Kay as Niall Swan scored the game winner in the 86th minute. The stats were nearly even across the board with Clayton State having 16 shots to the Saints' 14, whereas the Lakers had eight on goal and Flagler had seven.
Costa's two scores pushed him to a team-high seven on the season, while Wnuk's pair of assists were his first of the season.
Up Next: The Saints will aim to bounce back Wednesday, Sept. 29 when they travel to USC Aiken for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
