COLUMBUS, Ga. — The fourth-seeded Flagler College men's tennis team fell to top-seeded Columbus State University Monday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals at John W. Walden Tennis Center Monday, 4-0.
The Saints end their season at 7-11 and look ahead to next year as the Cougars improve to 18-0 and head to the PBC Tournament championship.
"We lost today versus a good CSU team, the reigning National Champion," Flagler head coach
Thomas Hipp said. "We played good tennis, but the opponents were stronger. I hope we learn from this season and improve for next year!"
The Saints faced the nation's No. 2-ranked doubles, along with three ranked singles players of the Cougars' six-man lineup. Flagler's No. 1 singles player
Nikita Tatyanin, who is ranked No. 23, gave No. 2 Alvaro Regalado the best match of the day as he narrowly fell, 7-5 and 6-2, to clinch the match win for the Cougars. Before that, CSU won on courts three and six to set up Regalado after securing the doubles point.
