AMERICUS, Ga. –
Matteo Costa scored two goals as Flagler College won its fourth match in a row with a 3-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Monday night at Hurricane Field.
Flagler improved to 4-2-1 overall and in the Peach Belt. Georgia Southwestern suffered its third consecutive loss and dropped to 3-4-0 overall and in conference play.
"Another good team performance against a very good Georgia Southwestern team," said head coach
Chris Kranjc. "I am really proud of how the guys are coming together at the right time of the year."
Costa found the net in the 14
th minute off a pass from
Jared Fuentes. That score would hold all the way to the halftime intermission.
Costa netted his second goal of the match, this time coming from
Peik Koskinen, in the 60
th minute.
Max Lambertz capped the scoring with a goal in the 87
th minute.
Andrea Lubbia recorded his second shutout of the season as he tallied four saves.
Mauricio Uribe collected six saves for the Hurricanes.
Flagler out-shot Georgia Southwestern 16-10 and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. The Hurricanes were whistled for 17 fouls and the Saints were tagged with eight.
Flagler takes on USC Aiken, on the road, on Thursday at 4 p.m.
