FLORENCE, S.C. –
Tori Pearce poured in a career-high 34 points to help lead Flagler College to an 89-71 triumph over Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Smith University Center.
Flagler won its last three games of the season to finish with an overall record of 7-7 and 6-6 mark in the Peach Belt. Francis Marion lost its third game in a row and dropped to 1-11 overall and 1-10 in conference play.
"I am very proud of our team and the way they finished at the end," said head coach
Mo Smith. "They showed heart and grit these last few games with us being short-handed. We can use this as great encouragement and a positive sense of direction going into the off-season."
The Saints led 24-15 after first quarter and after a Jasmyne May three-pointer cut the deficit to six, Flagler reeled of an 11-2 run over the next 3:42 to take control of the game. Pearce made a pair of jumpers and free throws in that spurt.
Flagler led by double figures the rest of the way.
