VALDOSTA, Ga. – No. 15 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Valdosta State University defeated No. 9 Flagler College 5-2 in a non-conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Courts.
"We lost to a very good Valdosta State team today," said director of tennis
Thomas Hipp. "We lost the doubles point in close matches and all the singles were fought hard. We had chances to pull it off, but we are lacking experience. We are hoping to learn quickly."
Max Berner and
Philipp Lemken bookended wins in singles for Flagler's points in the match. Berner defeated Edward Etty in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-4. Lemken was the final singles match to end today as he defeated Luca Mack 1-6, 6-2, and 6-4.
Flagler will play in the ITA National Indoor Championships this upcoming weekend at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The tournament schedule will be released in the coming days.
