GREENWOOD, S.C. –
Tori Pearce scored a team-high 18 points as Flagler College lost to No. 2 (WBCA Division II Top 25) Lander University 90-58 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at Finis Horne Arena.
Lander remained undefeated at 13-0 overall and 11-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 4-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
The Bearcats used a 12-0 spurt in the closing moments of the first quarter and into the early part of the second quarter to pull away from the Saints.
Makaila Cange led all scorers with 29 points and she completed the double-double with 11 rebounds. She made 13-of-16 from the field. Zamiya Passmore also notched a double-double with 19 points and 13 assists. Sarah Crews added 14 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Miriam Recarte chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Lander shot 52.8 percent from the field and owned a 56-28 advantage in points in the paint.
Sadie Russell recorded her second double-double of the season for the Saints. She tallied 11 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Russell also dished out five assists.
Jaziana Mathis added 11 points while
N'Mya Pierce tacked on 10 points and six rebounds.
Flagler plays its final home game of the season on Saturday against UNC Pembroke at 1:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
