SAINT LEO, Fla. – Flagler College closed the game on a 22-4 run to erase a 14-point deficit in a 68-64 win at Saint Leo University in a non-conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at the Marion Bowman Center.
Flagler improved to 3-1 on the season while Saint Leo dropped to 1-2.
The Lions held a 60-46 lead with 8:15 left to go in the game after an Amanda Ulrich basket but could only make two more buckets in their final 17 shots.
Jaziana Mathis, who scored a game-high 21 points, got the run going with a fastbreak three-pointer and
Amuk Tong followed with a pair of layups. Tong's layup with 2:49 left tied the game at 62 and a Mathis pull-up jumper 22 seconds later put Flagler on top for good.
Mathis added a team-high seven rebounds and five assists to her line.
Tori Pearce added 16 points, five assists, and four steals while Tong poured in a career-high 12 points.
Ulrich led Saint Leo with a game-high 19 points, and she added eight rebounds to go along with four assists. Ayanna Trigg recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Flagler plays host to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
