DAHLONEGA, Ga. — As time trickled down in overtime, the Flagler College men's soccer team didn't panic.
Instead, the Saints stuck to what has been working and it proved huge as the
Joeran Osland-to-
Max Lambertz corner kick connection continued to flourish. At the 99th minute, Osland found Lambertz for the set-piece golden goal and the 1-0 Peach Belt Conference win over North Georgia Saturday afternoon.
"Great result on the road against a great North Georgia team," Flagler head coach
Chris Kranjc said. "We got off to slow start, but really played a very complete second half. In the overtime, Max got himself into a great position to score the winner with a great ball from
Joeran Osland. Very proud of the players for their commitment for the 90 minutes."
The victory was the fourth straight for the Saints (8-6-0, 6-4-0 PBC) and second this season over the Nighthawks (5-9-1, 2-7-1). Flagler will be back in action when Georgia Southwestern comes to Saints Field for Senior Night Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Lambertz's goal was his fourth on the season and third over the past four games, while it was Osland's team-leading seventh assist with three of those going to Lambertz on set-pieces versus Barry, Clayton State and North Georgia. In all, the Saints had 15 shots to the Nighthawks' eight as 10 were on goal compared to four for UNG and nine corners to seven for the home team.
Andrea Lubbia was unblemished for the second straight match, hauling in four saves to the Nighthawks' Garrett Liles' nine.
