ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College scored five runs in the first two innings and went on to rout Assumption College 14-1 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Drysdale Field.
Sean Lawlor hit a two-run double and
Adam Mitchell followed with a single to left to score Lawlor and Flagler (13-9) took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Alex Amos added a two-run single in the second.
Austin Kunde (2-0) was credited the win in relief. He tossed four scoreless innings and allowed just two hits and fanned four.
Kyle Morton started and made his first appearance since April 7, 2018. After hitting the first batter, Morton retired the next six batters in a row, including four on strikeouts.
Casey Todd,
Jett Walsh, and
Ethan Jones also saw time on the hill.
Lawlor went 3-for-4 with the double, three runs scored, and two runs batted in. Mitchell finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, three RBI, and he scored a run. Amos knocked in three runs as he added a double to go along with his single.
Patrick Harrington (0-2) took the loss for Assumption (4-7-1). He allowed six runs on eight hits in five innings.
Four different Greyhounds hit a single. Eric Preston's base hit drove in a run in the seventh.
Flagler returns to conference play with a three game series at Young Harris College this weekend. The series begins on Friday at 7 p.m.
