Flagler rallies in second half, but Lander comes away with the win

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Flagler College rallied in the second half to take a lead late only to have Lander University close the game on a 12-2 run for an 80-72 victory in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Finis Horne Arena.

With 3:02 left in the game, Gedi Juozapaitis grabbed a rebound and went coast-to-coast for a layup to give Flagler (11-14 overall, 7-10 PBC) a 70-68 lead.

The Bearcats began their run on a DaJuan Moorer layup with 2:40 left to tie the game. He was fouled on the shot and completed the three-point play. Lander never trailed again.

The game featured nine ties and 10 lead changes.

Juozapaitis poured in a game-high 28 points with the help of 10-of-19 shooting from the field. He added six rebounds and two blocked shots. Damir Hadzic came off the bench to supply 19 points and seven rebounds. He made all seven free throw attempts.

Deon Berrien led Lander (18-7, 12-5) with 18 points and six rebounds. Moorer came off the bench to add 14 points. Sidney Robinson and Elijah Alston chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Alston corralled a team-high seven boards.

Flagler will play its final road game of the season on Saturday (Feb. 22) at Georgia Southwestern State University at 3:30 p.m.
