Tori Pearce scored a team-high 19 points, but it wasn't enough as Flagler College lost to Florida International University 97-64 in a women's college basketball game Wednesday night at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
Florida International (3-1), a NCAA Division I and Conference USA member, won its third game in a row. The game was an exhibition for Flagler.
Pearce sank a pull up jumper in the lane to give the Saints a 13-12 lead with 3:14 left in the first quarter, but the Panthers would go on an 18-4 run to pull away. Alexus Wykoff had four layups in the run, including three in a row at the start of the spurt.
FIU scored 30 points in the second quarter and shot 52.4 percent from the field.
Alma Danielsson scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Panthers. She sank six 3-pointers. Jiselle Thomas came off the bench to add 19 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Wykoff finished with 10 points.
Sadie Russell recorded a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for Flagler.
Jaziana Mathis added 12 points while
Staci Miller contributed 10 points in a reserve role.
Flagler will break for the holidays and return to the court on Jan. 6 in the Peach Belt Conference at the University of North Georgia.
