BELMONT, N.C. — The Flagler College men's tennis team completed its first weekend of fall play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament at the Reidy Tennis Center Saturday.
Rodrigo Carvalho advanced all the way to the singles semifinals before falling to Columbus State University's Alvaro Regalado to finish with a 3-1 record, while
Cedric Holzmann was 1-1. In doubles, Carvalho and true freshman
Philipp Lemken posted a 2-1 record as they lost in the semifinals to the CSU duo of Regalado/Tommaso Schold.
"Overall, we are glad that the tournament took place because it keeps our players competitive," Director of Tennis
Thomas Hipp said. "Rodrigo and Philipp showed improved chemistry and went all the way to the semis, playing a close match versus the winning team. In addition, Rod went to the semi in singles. The rest of the team competed well, which shows we are competitive with the top teams. I hope we can keep up the good trend in our next tournaments."
