DAYTONA BEACH – The Flagler College women's tennis opened the fall season with the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Open, which was held Friday through Sunday (Sept. 20-22) at the Crotty Tennis Center.
Eden Schlagenhauf and
Alessandra Traub both won their three singles matches. Schalgenhauf, the PBC Freshman of the Year last spring, played in the Gold Flight and defeated Georgina Wood (ERAU) 6-2 and 6-3; Olivia Talbert (Stetson) 7-6(1) and 6-2; and Beatrice Letizia (Southeastern) 7-5 and 6-2. Traub played in the Blue Flight and defeated Megan Harrison (Stetson) 6-1 and 6-0; Anna Dovgopoyli (Stetson) 3-6, 6-4, and 6-3; and Julia Mautner (ERAU) 6-1 and 6-2.
Lixin Wang went 2-1 while
Anika Nissen and
Amelie Vossgaetter both went 1-2.
Paloma Martinez posted a 0-3 record in singles.
In doubles, all three tandems went 2-1.
Flagler will prepare for the ITA Southeast Regional, which will be held Sept. 27-30 at Sumter, South Carolina.
