No. 3 Flagler men top No. 11 North Georgia on “Senior Day”

ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 3 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Flagler College defeated No. 11 University of North Georgia 4-3 in a Peach Belt Conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.

Flagler wraps up the regular season with a 15-6 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Peach Belt. North Georgia fell to 15-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

Before the match, Flagler honored its seniors Daniel Arrien, Konstantin Dustmann, Niklas Heil, and Lukas Storck.

The Saints took two doubles matches right away to win the team point. Lukas Storck and Felipe Carvalho took No. 1 doubles 6-2 while Luca Bolla and Daniel Arrien won by the same score at No. 3. Bolla and Arrien raised their record to 15-5 this year.

After North Georgia claimed the first singles match, Carvalho won his match in straight sets, 6-2 and 7-6(4). Rasmus Jonsson followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over the No. 43-ranked player in the country, Jess Jones.

The Nighthawks stayed alive by winning No. 5 singles, but Dustmann clinched the victory for Flagler with a 7-6(5), 6-3 win at No. 6. It was his fifth consecutive win and Dustmann raised his record to 7-3 playing at No. 6.

Flagler will head to Florence, South Carolina at the end of the week to play in the Peach Belt Conference Championships.
