ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College dropped a pair of games today to wrap up the Flagler Invitational on Sunday at Flagler Field. Flagler lost to Anderson University 6-1 in the opener and then fell to Lynn University 2-0.
Flagler wrapped up the weekend with a 2-2 record. Anderson and Lynn also posted a 2-2 record.
In the first game, Anderson's Harlie Duncan (1-1) tossed a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and only one run allowed. She retired 12-of-the-first-15 batters she faced.
Kayson Boatner hit a two-run home run over the center field fence to give the Trojans a 3-1 lead. Later in the inning, Morgan Charter hit a solo home run and Meghan Majeski hit a run-scoring single.
Joshlyn Martin went 2-for-4 with a double and she scored two runs for Anderson. Gracie Williams collected a single and a double as well as scoring a run.
Alayna Savaglio (1-1) took the loss in the circle for the Saints. She allowed five hits and four runs over 5 2/3 innings of work.
Tatum Morgan,
Maria Kappos, and
Genevieve Mangini each hit a single for Flagler.
In game two, Lynn's Kayla Sheffield (2-0) turned in a masterpiece as she faced three batters over the minimum in the three-hit shutout. Sheffield induced 13 ground outs and five fly outs.
She got all of the offense she would need in the second inning. Three infield singles helped produce a run. Mackenzie Wyatt (2-4, 2RBI) bases loaded single to shortstop gave the Fighting Knights a the early lead.
Sophia Devesa (2-3, R) led off the fourth inning with a double to left field and three batters later, Wyatt drove her home with another infield single to shortstop.
Katlyn McCue (0-1) allowed two runs on six hits in three-plus innings to pick up the loss for Flagler.
Kyra Gipson tossed four scoreless innings in relief.

Megan Miller each hit a single for the Saints.
Flagler plays its first road doubleheader on Wednesday at Florida Southern College in Lakeland at 5 p.m.
