FLORENCE, S.C. –
Gedi Juozapaitis recorded his eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds, but Flagler College couldn't overcome 21 turnovers which helped lead Francis Marion University to an 84-71 win Saturday afternoon at the Smith University Center.
Francis Marion improved to 19-6 overall and 15-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 8-18 overall and 5-15 in conference play.
The Patriots blew open a 9-all game with a 16-0 run midway through the first half and they didn't look back.
The Saints got as close as six points (45-39) after a
Chris Metzger layup three minutes into the second half.
Brandon Parker led the Patriots with 19 points and he tallied a game-high seven assists. Ryan Davis added 18 points while Winston Hill came off the bench to record a double-double of his own with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kailex Stephens added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Francis Marion converted 21 Flagler turnovers into 29 points.
Juozapaitis sank six of Flagler's seven 3-pointers.
Jeffercy Jean contributed seven points and nine rebounds. Metzger and
Gloire Biongo each added eight points.
The Saints made 60 percent (18-30) of their shots in the second half.
Flagler will play its final road contest on Wednesday (Feb. 27) at Columbus State University.
