Marcus Graham finishes fifth and advances to nationals; Saints finish fourth

WINGATE, N.C.  – The Flagler College men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional, which was held Saturday morning at the Wingate University cross country facility.

Flagler's Marcus Graham finished in fifth place with a 10K time of 31:23.4 and automatically qualifies for the national championship as he was the second individual runner not advancing with a team.

Graham earned all-region honors along with Connor Norton who finished in 21st place with a time of 32:20.4.

Queens University of Charlotte led the 24-team field with 43 points as it had four runners finish in the top 10. Augusta University (47) and the University of Mount Olive (75) finished second and third, respectively. Those three teams will advance to the national championships.

Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke defended his regional title led the 157-man field with a time of 30:30.7. Jacob Poston of Augusta finished in second place with a time of 31:05.5. Anthony Raftis (31:05.7) of Queens and Chase Kennedy (31:19.5) of Augusta followed in third and fourth places.

Asad Bashir finished in 28th place with a time of 32:50.6. Joel Nesi crossed the finish line at 33:24.0 and finished in 38th place. Evan Fuller posted a time of 33:53.9 while Justin Greene had a time of 34:21.5. Hunter Ingle rounded out the Flagler runners with a time of 36:56.0.
