AIKEN, S.C. – No. 3 seed Augusta University swept the No. 1 seed Flagler College 25-22, 25-21, 25-16 to win its second consecutive Peach Belt Conference Volleyball Tournament title Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Augusta (27-8) won its sixth consecutive match and receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Flagler (23-8) had its five-match winning streak snapped and will now wait and see if it receives on of the five at-large berths to the tournament. The selection show is tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. on ncaa.com.
Tournament MVP Nicolette Ramos led the Jaguars with a match-high 12 kills and hit an efficient .391 with only three errors on 23 swings. Kylie Martin added eight kills and eight digs while Nedu Evans and Chloe Allen each had seven kills. Holland Martin scooped up 16 digs and Allen had an additional 12. Allen also recorded three block assists. Payton Murchie tallied 22 assists for the Jags.
Augusta held Flagler to a season-low .036 hitting percentage.
Karlie Redfern, an all-tournament selection, led the Saints with seven kills.
Rachel Machovec finished with four kills and five digs.
Kayla Norelli collected 21 digs while
Kennedy Muff, who earned all-tourney honors, tallied 16 assists.
Logan Garcia and Muff each had three block assists.
Flagler had won six-of-the-eight previous conference tournament finals it played in. Today was the Saints' first finals appearance since winning their third straight tourney title in 2017.
