COLUMBUS, Ga. –
Josefine Nilsen's header in the 68
th minute proved to be the game-winning goal as No. 6 (United Soccer Coaches Division II) Flagler College edged Columbus State University 2-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex.
The Saints improved to 7-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Peach Belt. It was Flagler's first win over Columbus State in the 14-match series history. Columbus State fell to 4-5-0 overall and dropped to 0-3-0 in conference play.

Ashley Martin. "We showed real quality when we needed it and we had determination to see out the game."
The game-winning goal was set up by a foul when
Concepcion Sanchez was tripped with the ball about 35 yards from the goal by a Columbus State player.
Charlene Nowotny lofted a free kick to the top of the goal box where Nilsen headed the ball past the keeper for her first collegiate goal.
Sara Sandberg scored her ninth goal of the season in the eighth minute. Her initial shot was saved, but the keeper could not corral the ball. Sandberg collected her rebound, got the keeper to dive to the left, and then tapped in the shot into an open goal.
Riley Clark scored the lone goal for the Lady Cougars.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel collected five saves for Flagler while Sara Halilhodzic recorded six saves for Columbus State.
Both teams finished with 15 shots apiece, but the Saints held an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. Columbus State had 12 corner kicks while Flagler had three.
Flagler hosts Clayton State University on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 12 p.m. at Saints Field, which will be a "Pink Out" match to promote breast cancer awareness.
