DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Savanna Sheehan scored both goals as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University upset No. 14 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College 2-1 in a non-conference women's soccer match Friday night at the ERAU Soccer Stadium.
Embry-Riddle (1-2-0) recorded its first win of the season while Flagler slipped to 1-1-0.
Sheehan's first goal came in the 16
th minute when she headed in Rachel Owens' cross.
She netted the game-winner in the 78
th minute off an Annie Gelnaw assist.
Charlene Nowotny scored the equalizer for the Saints in the 32
nd minute.
Dana Ruchti recorded seven saves for the Eagles while
Maddison Lipson tallied two for the Saints.
Flagler out-shot Embry-Riddle 15-8 and held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Saints also held an 8-3 margin in corner kicks.
Flagler will host Florida Tech on Wednesday (Sept. 12) at 7 p.m. in the home opener at Saints Field.
