DAHLONEGA, Ga. – For the second consecutive day the Flagler College offense was held in check as the Saints lost both games on Sunday in the Captain D's Surf and Turf Classic at Hill Stadium. Flagler lost the opener 2-1 to Coker College and then suffered a 3-1 loss to Tusculum College.
Flagler leaves with a 10-11 overall record. Coker improved to 16-3 while Tusculum is now 10-7.
In the opener, Coker's Christine Carver (8-1), for the second day in a row, shut down the Saints. She scattered five hits and allowed one run to go along with five strikeouts. Carver tossed a three-hit shutout yesterday.
Hannah Price's two-run double in the sixth broke up the scoreless tie.
Flagler was able to get a run back in the top of the seventh.
Cassie Patterson hit a one-out single up the middle and he pinch runner,
Zoe Mooney took third on
Jaclyn Mijuskovic's double down the left field line.
Garland Evans got the Saints on the board with a sacrifice fly to right field, but Flagler could not score the game-tying run, which was on second base.
Kelsi Bachmann went 2-for-4 with a double and she scored a run for the Cobras.
Ally Marcano (4-4) allowed two runs and four hits as she went the distance. She walked nine and struck out five.

Natalie Murphy had the other hits for the Saints.
In the second game, Sammie West led off the fourth for the Pioneers with a double to right-center. She was sacrificed over to third and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Brittney Franse to give Tusculum a 2-0 lead.
Allison Pate (6-2) earned the win in relief as she tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings and scattered four hits. Taylor Plemons started and last 3 1/3 innings.
Emily Hester collected two singles and had one run batted in.
Katlyn McCue (6-7) took the loss in the circle for the Saints. She allowed six hits and two earned runs over 4 1/3 innings pitched. Marcano closed the game with 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
Evans had a pair of singles with one RBI.
Flagler opens Peach Belt Conference play on Tuesday (March 6) at 4 p.m. against Young Harris College at Flagler Field.
