Vaughn McCall scored 27 of his career-high 34 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Flagler College lost 91-74 to the University of South Carolina Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.
USC Aiken snapped a four-game losing streak to improve to 11-9 overall and 8-8 in the Peach Belt. Flagler lost its fifth game in a row and dropped to 7-13 overall and 4-12 in conference play.
The Pacers scored the first eight points of the game and never looked back. They led 49-32 at the half.
Doniel Dean led the Pacers with 23 points and he added eight assists and eight rebounds to his line. Markus Terry contributed 21 points while Faison Brock tacked on 15 points and six rebounds. Nenad Milenkovic came off the bench to add 14 points as he sank four 3-pointers.
USC Aiken made 14 treys and out-rebounded Flagler 41-31. The Pacers scored 20 points in transition and had 16 second chance points.
M\cCall's cache was the most by a Flagler player since Jon Matthews poured in 36 points at Montevallo (Dec. 6, 2008). He tied a Division II-era record with 13 made field goals.
Connor Jack came off the bench tied his career-high with 10 points and he grabbed seven rebounds.
Jeffercy Jean added nine points.
Cortlin Davis contributed eight points, four rebounds and three blocked shots.
Flagler shot 50.9 percent (27-53) from the field, including a 56 percent mark in the second half.
The Saints out-scored the Pacers 34-24 in the paint.
Flagler hosts Clayton State University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
