DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Flagler College broke the game open with a seven-run, eight-hit fifth inning in an 11-3 victory over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Sliwa Stadium.
Flagler extended its winning streak to 10 games, its longest streak since the same number in 2016. The Saints improved to 13-2 overall. Embry-Riddle lost its fifth game in a row and fell to 6-7.
Flagler held a 3-1 lead going into the fifth. The Saints strung together six consecutive hits, which included a two-run single by
Ja'Kobi Dasher. Later in the inning,
Ethan Crout hit a two-run single, which was his second base hit of the inning.
That would be more than enough for
Jett Walsh (3-0) who tossed six innings and scattered three hits. He allowed two earned runs.
Kyle Hansen and
Trey Frazier finished up in relief. Frazier struck out four of the seven batters he faced.
Crout finished 4-for-4 with a double, four runs scored and two runs batted in.
Dillon Reed added three singles, scored two runs and knocked in two more.
Jason Moore collected three base hits, three RBI and he scored a run.
Kyle Marsh (0-1) took the loss for the Eagles. He lasted two innings, allowed three hits and three runs. Marsh walked three and struck out three. Four other Embry-Riddle pitchers saw time on the hill.
Marsh hit a double and scored a run.
Flagler remains on the road as they head to Greenwood, South Carolina for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series at Lander University. The first game is Friday night at 6 p.m.
