ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College scored all of its runs in the first four innings as it cruised to a 9-4 win over Florida Tech to wrap up the Flagler Kickoff Classic Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Flagler improved to 4-2 while Florida Tech dropped to 1-5.
Dillon Reed belted a two-run home run in the first inning and then
Sean Lawlor blasted a three-run shot to left-center to stake the Saints to a 5-0 lead.
That provided starter
Ryan Ashworth (1-1) with more than enough offense. He scattered five hits over six innings and allowed two runs. Ashworth struck out three batters and issued two walks.
Nick Martinez and
Ethan Jones finished in relief.
Reed finished the day 3-for-4 with the home run, two runs batted in and he scored three runs.
Ja'Kobi Dasher went 3-for-4 with two doubles and he scored a run.
Ethan Crout collected two singles, scored three runs and stole a base.
Andrew Marzheuser (0-1) took the loss for the Panthers. He tossed three innings, allowed six hits and five earned runs. Four relievers also saw work for Florida Tech.
Jacob Buser went 3-for-4 with a solo home run. Ryan Sinzenich also went 3-for-4 with a home run, but he scored two runs and knocked in two more.
Flagler will spend Valentine's Day in Winter Park taking on Rollins College at 6 p.m.
