AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Gedi Juozapaitis scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds, but it was not enough as Flagler College lost to Paine College 65-53 in a non-conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Heal Complex.
Flagler falls to 4-3 while Paine improved to 1-6.
Joshua Holliday led four Lions in double-figures with a 14 points. He added a team-high eight rebounds. Khalen Pinkett added 13 points and six steals while Fadil Robinson and Cameron Gaines each scored 11 points.
The Lions out-scored the Saints 44-24 in the paint. Paine forced 19 Flagler turnovers and cashed them in for 15 points. The Lions only knocked down 1-of-12 shots from behind the arc, but shot 66.7 percent (12-18) from the free throw line.
Outside of Juozapaitis, Flagler had three players with six points and another four with five.
DeMari Davis grabbed eight rebounds.
Flagler shot a season-low 31.7 percent (20-63) from the field. The Saints struggled from long range as they made 20.7 percent (6-29). Juozapaitis made three of those 3-pointers.
After a
Gloire Biongo five-foot jumper cut Flagler's deficit to 47-43 with 8:11 to go, Paine reeled off a 12-2 run over the next 3:09 to put the game away.
Flagler will take a break for exams next week and return to Peach Belt Conference play Dec. 17 at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.
