GREENWOOD, S.C. – Kylee Eppl's scored the golden goal three minutes and nine seconds into the second overtime period to send Lander University to a 2-1 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday night at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander won its third match in a row and improved to 10-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the Peach Belt. Flagler had its three-match winning streak and seven-match undefeated streak snapped. The Saints are now 9-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in conference play.
Lander's Emily Jermstad was on the near side of the box and sent a cross in front of the net where Eppl chipped the pass just under the crossbar and over the arm of Flagler keeper Sarah-Lisa Dubel.
The Saints got on the board first with Annie Habeeb's goal in the eighth minute. Habeeb knocked in Sara Sandberg's shot that hit the crossbar.
Jermstad scored the equalizer in the 38th minute. She took Brianna Taylor's pass on a breakaway and went into the left-hand side of the box where she chipped a shot inside the near post.
Sarah Owen tallied five saves for the Bearcats. Dubel finished with four.
Flagler out-shot Lander 21-15, but each team had six shots on frame. Lander held the edge in corner kicks, 6-1. The Bearcats were whistled for 19 fouls while the Saints were tagged with 13.
Flagler plays its final road match of the regular season on Tuesday (Oct. 23) at Eckerd College at 7 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Florida.
