ROME, Ga. – The Flagler College volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches this afternoon at the Winthrop-King Centre. Flagler swept the opener against Mississippi College (25-17, 25-23, 25-18), but fell in four to Shorter University (18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 22-25).
Flagler is now 9-11 this season. Mississippi College left with a 7-18 mark while Shorter is 9-10.
In the opener,
Karlie Redfern led the Saints with 13 kills and a .357 hitting percentage. She had three errors on 28 swings.
Raquel Kulak added 10 kills and finished with a sizzling .600 hitting percentage as she only had one error on 15 swings.
Kayla Norelli collected 10 digs while
Tara Savisky tallied 32 assists.
Cadie O'Hern chipped in with six kills and three total blocks.
Autumn Frost led the Choctaws with eight kills. Lexie Laurendine and Rylee Markham each tallied 12 assists. Jill Brown collected 10 digs.
In the second match, Annie Homan led the Hawks with 14 kills and nine digs. Alicia McClellan added 12 kills and finished with a .556 hitting percentage. Danielle Melton came off the bench to contribute 11 kills with only one error on 17 swings for a .588 hitting percentage. Emily Wilson collected 20 digs. Kendall Vondra registered 23 assists while Tinsley Fain added 20 more.
Kulak led the Saints with 14 kills and hit .345. O'Hern added 10 kills while
Morgan Hall contributed nine more. Savisky tallied 40 assists. Norelli paced the defense with 13 digs.
Flagler returns home for a pair of Peach Belt Conference matches next weekend. Georgia College visits on Friday (Oct. 19) at 7 p.m. on "90s Night" at Flagler Gym.
