COLUMBUS, Ga. – Michael Graham scored a game-high 18 points, 12 of which came in the second half, as Columbus State University rallied past Flagler College 73-66 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Lumpkin Center.
Columbus State improved to 6-9 overall and 6-6 in the Peach Belt. Flagler had its three-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-9 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
The game was close throughout with seven ties and nine lead changes. The Saints led by as many as seven (13-6) and held a 34-33 lead at the half. The Cougars had an 11-point lead (66-55) with 4:23 left in the game.
Graham hit back-to-back jumpers which sparked a 10-0 run over a two-minute and 26-second span to give Columbus State a 56-46 lead. The Cougars never relinquished the lead.
Graham added three blocked shots and four rebounds to his line. Rudy Winters and Darius Joell each added 16 points for Columbus State. Marcus Dixon recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Cougars shot 51.9 percent (28-54) from the field and scored 34 points in the paint.
Cortlin Davis led Flagler with 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Austin Howard deposited a season-high 15 points with the help of three 3-pointers.
Jeffercy Jean added 13 points while
Vaughn McCall tallied 12 more.
Damerit Brown grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Flagler returns to play at home against PBC leader UNC Pembroke on Saturday (Jan. 27) at 3:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
