ST. AUGUSTINE –
Charlene Nowotny scored the match's only goal as Flagler College defeated Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the final game of the Flagler Invitational Sunday afternoon at Saints Field.
Flagler improved its overall mark to 2-0 and Embry-Riddle fell to 1-1 on the season.
Nowotny handled a pass from
Abby Austin 10 yards outside the box and beat a defender before burying her first goal of the year with just six seconds left before the half.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel made one save in the Saints' win, but denied several crosses and corner kicks to keep a clean sheet.
Fanny Kristiansson made one save in the loss for the Eagles.
Embry-Riddle fired just one shot on goal and Flagler took just two in the tightly contested defensive match.
Eckerd College rolled past Spring Hill College, 6-0, in the early game on Sunday.
Flagler will travel to play Newberry (S.C.) College on Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m.
