MOBILE, Ala. –
Henrique Salomao scored two goals to help lift Flagler College to a 2-1 win over Spring Hill College in a non-conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Library Field.
Salomao beat the last defender on the pitch and finished to the far post off of a pass from
Rostand Ndong to give the Saints the lead for good in the 55
th minute.
Salomao chipped the keeper for the first goal of the game from 15 yards out in the 24
th minute. He paced the offense with a game-high four shots on goal.
Spring Hill responded with the equalizer when Alexander Lipinski scored high post on a ball played in the middle from Jack LaForge.
Mel Broughton earned the win in net for the Saints after making six saves and holding the Badgers scoreless in the second half. Spring Hill out-shot Flagler 17-9, including nine shots in the second half. The Badgers also took 16 corner kicks to the Saints' four.
A combined six yellow cards were handed out, including three in the 87
th minute during the tight match. The Saints were given four yellow cards to the Badgers'
three.
Flagler will head to Pensacola to take on the University of West Florida on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Central.
