PENSACOLA, Fla. – Rafael Gadoi scored the game-winning goal just 20 seconds into the overtime period to give the University of West Florida a 2-1 win over Flagler College in a non-conference match Monday afternoon at the UWF Soccer Complex.
Flagler and West Florida each own a 1-1 record this season after the contest.
After a scoreless first half,
Juan Membreno finished a pass from
Rostand Ndong for the first goal of the match in the 54
th minute.
Membreno's score held until the 87
th minute when a cross from Shawn Sanon was deflected off Sean Hoffstatter and put into the net by Gadoi to tie the game for the Argonauts.
Flagler's
Mel Broughton made six saves. Over the entirety of the match, the Argonauts fired 13 shots while Flagler managed six. Murray Jacob made two saves for West Florida.
Gadoi took a game-high four shots, three on goal for the Argonauts. Membreno took three shots for the Saints.
Flagler will play at Queens University of Charlotte on Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
