ST. AUGUSTINE –
Fio Fustagno broke a 1-1 tie in the 54
th minute to lead Flagler College to a 4-1 win over Eckerd College on Friday night at Saints Field. The match was delayed to an 8:25 p.m. start due to a weather delay affecting the first game of the Flagler Invitational.
Fustagno handled a pass inside the box and sent it to the far post to give the Saints the lead. Freshman
Maria Castorino-Mujica added goals in the 82
nd minute and 86
th minute to seal the 4-1 victory.
Stephanie Linton netted the game's first tally for Eckerd in the 13
th minute, but
Katie Reed scored the equalizer 12 minutes prior to halftime.
Annie Habeeb picked up a pair of assists in her first match with the Saints.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel, another freshman, held the Tritons scoreless after the 13
th minute and made seven saves to earn her first win for Flagler.
Kaela Harmon anchored the Flagler defense and logged 90 minutes of playing time to help hold Eckerd scoreless through the second half and much of the first half.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University blanked Spring Hill College 5-0 in the first match of the Flagler Invitational.
Spring Hill will face Eckerd in the first match at Saints Field on Sunday at 11 a.m. Flagler will host Embry-Riddle in the final match of the Flagler Invitational at 1:30 p.m.
