ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College volleyball team hosted its third annual Crimson & Gold intrasquad scrimmage last Saturday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
The 2017 team was split into two teams, Crimson and Gold, and featured former volleyball player
Ashley Cheewah.
Fourth-year head coach
Matt Affolder used a couple of different lineups during the four-game match.
"It was great for the team to get out and battle against each other on our main court, in front of a great crowd of family, friends, and Flagler Volleyball fans," said Affolder. "We always enjoy the chance to get a "game-like" run through so we can prepare for our season opener. We saw a lot of real solid play on both sides of the net, while also learning some areas we want to fine-tune before Friday night."
Jordan Taylor had 11 kills for the Gold team while
Sara Davis led the Crimson team with 10 kills.
Sarah Schark had 14 digs while
Kayla Norelli collected 12. Each setter,
Tara Savisky and
Rachel Porada, tallied 26 assists.
Flagler opens the season Friday (Sept. 1) against Purdue University Northwest at 7 p.m.
