Flagler pounds out 17 hits in 12-5 win over Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Flagler College pounded out 17 hits en route to a 12-5 win over Saint Leo University in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Southard Stadium.

Flagler concludes the regular season with a 12-5 overall record and will head to Florence, South Carolina for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, which begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Saints play the first game in the tournament and will face Georgia College. Saint Leo falls to 21-25 as it will wrap up its season next weekend.

Trailing 3-1 after one complete inning, Flagler's Sean Lawlor gave the lead back to the Saints, and for good, with a three-run blast to left field.

In the fifth inning, Jason Moore hit a two-run double down the left field line to increase the Saints lead to 8-3.

Ja'Kobi Dasher hit his second home run in as many days with a solo shot to left in the seventh and Moore led off the ninth with a home run to left. Dasher went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Five different pitchers saw work today for the Saints. Cooper Wallace (7-3) started and tossed two innings, allowed five hits and three runs, but did strikeout four batters. Ryan Ashworth tossed three scoreless innings and fanned two, while Dante Pagano, MacLain Larson and Louis Pugliese also worked in relief.

Igor Baez paced the Saints attack as he went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and he scored two runs. Moore had two hits, the double and the homer, and he knocked in four runs. Ethan Crout collected two singles while Cole Ondrejka also singled twice, but scored two runs. Jake Hathaway had two singles.

Jordan Pendleton (5-4) took the loss on the hill for the Lions. He lasted 2 1/3 innings and he surrendered five runs on eight hits.

Zach Scott went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the ninth. Lane Stancil collected two singles, scored a run and drove in another. Dylan Harris singed twice and scored a run. Tate Sweatt came off the bench to add two singles.
