FLORENCE, S.C. –
Ethan Crout went 5-for-6 with a home run, four runs batted in and three runs scored to help lead No. 24 (
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Top 30) Flagler College to a 14-5 win over Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Sparrow Field.
Flagler improved to 21-11 overall and 9-3 in the Peach Belt. The Saints won two-out-of-the-three-games to take the weekend series. Francis Marion dropped to 21-10 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
Leading 4-0 going into the top of the sixth inning, the Saints put the game away by plating three runs.
Sean Lawlor hit an RBI double inside the third base bag, but it was Crout's two-run single to center off of reliever Arien Seymour that gave Flagler a 7-0 cushion.
The Saints followed that up with a seven-run seventh inning where they sent 12 men to the plate.
Flagler had six-of-its-nine hitters have multi-hit games led by Crout.
Cole Ondrejka collected three singles, scored two runs and drove in two more while Lawlor had two doubles, scored two runs and he knocked in three runs.
Dylan Jones went 2-for-5 with a double, one run batted in and he scored two runs.
Jake Hathaway singled twice, drove in two runs and scored another.
Ja'Kobi Dasher collected a pair of singles, scored two runs and drove in another.
Cooper Wallace (6-1) tossed 5 2/3 innings, scattered five hits and allowed an unearned run.
Luke Cooksey,
Ryan Ashworth and
Ethan Jones finished up in relief.
Cole Hinnant collected two singles, scored two runs and drove in another for the Patriots. Logan Koch also singled twice.
Francis Marion went through seven pitchers, but it was the starter, Sam High (1-1), who took the loss. He last 3 2/3 innings and surrendered six hits as well as three runs. He did strike out four batters.
Flagler hosts No. 22 Florida Southern College on Tuesday (March 28) at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
