ST. AUGUSTINE –
Sara Davis, the D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year, recorded 12 kills and hit an eye-popping .733 to help lead top-seed Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-20) win over No. 8 seed Barton College in a NCAA Division II Southeast Regional quarterfinal Thursday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
With the win, Flagler extended its winning streak to 20 matches and improved to 25-3 overall. The Saints will take on the No. 4 seed, Anderson University, in the second semifinal tomorrow (Dec. 1) night at 7:30 p.m. Barton ended its season with a 23-8 record.
Davis only had one error on 15 swings.
Taja Valmyr added 12 kills, five digs and two total blocks.
Karlie Redfern, the AVCA Southeast Region Freshman of the Year, chipped in with eight kills and eight digs.
Tara Savisky tallied 35 assists and had a pair of service aces.
Kayla Norelli collected a match-high 13 digs.
Raquel Kulak contributed four kills and five total blocks.
Kaytlin Elkins led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 kills, six digs and two total blocks. Angelica Acevedo tallied 19 assists and Ashley Owen collected seven digs. Courtney Wiseman had three total blocks.
Other scores from the quarterfinal round at Flagler Gymnasium were Wingate 3, Carson-Newman 2; Georgia College 3, USC Aiken 2; and, Anderson swept Queens University of Charlotte.
NOTE: Flagler is 6-2 all-time in the quarterfinal round of the southeast regional.
