ST. AUGUSTINE –
Charlene Nowotny scored a goal and assisted on another to help No. 17 (United Soccer Coaches Top 25) Flagler College to a 3-0 victory over Clayton State University in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.
Flagler concluded the regular with a 14-1-2 overall record and a 7-1-2 mark in the Peach Belt. The 14 wins ties the program record (14-5-0 in 2005) and the victory secures the No. 3 seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. Clayton State lost its fourth consecutive game and fell to 5-10-0 overall and 2-8-0 in conference play. The Lakers are in a three-way tie for eighth place with only one of those teams being able to advance to the conference tournament.
Flagler will host Young Harris College, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, on Tuesday (Oct. 31) at a tentative time of 7 p.m. at Saints Field in a quarterfinal match. The official times will be released on Monday.
The Saints scored two goals within one minute of each other in the first half. Nowotny converted a free kick from 30 yards out, tucking the shot inside the far post in the 41
st minute. One minute and nine seconds later, Nowotny lobbed a pass into the box to

Maria Castorino-Mujica to her left. Castorino-Mujica touched the ball into the back of the net to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
Annie Habeeb capped the scoring with a goal in the 74
th minute.
Fio Fustagno tallied an assist.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel turned in her sixth clean sheet of the season and she did not have to work hard as all three Clayton State shots were off frame. Dubel moves into third place for the most shutouts in a season for a Flagler keeper. Jessica Charman tallied two saves for the Lakers.
Flagler out-shot Clayton State 14-3 and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
