Ndong header sends Flagler seniors off as winners

Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – Rostand Ndong headed in a Henrique Salomao's corner kick with one minute and 15 seconds left in regulation to give Flagler College a 2-1 win over Clayton State in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.

Flagler raised its record to 5-8-1 overall and ended its Peach Belt record with a 4-3-0 mark. The Saints earn the No. 4 seed and will host Clayton State in a quarterfinal match on Tuesday (Oct. 31), tentatively scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Clayton State lost its second match in a row and fell to 7-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play.

Salamao's second consecutive corner kick was lobbed into the middle of the box where Ndong jumped and headed the ball into the back of the net.

Sekou Thornall scored the equalizer for the Lakers in the 82nd minute.

Christian Wnuk got the Saints on the board in the 24th minute when he blasted a shot in from just outside the box.

Jesper Olsson tallied three saves for the Saints. Oliver Pannell recorded one save for the Lakers.

Clayton State out-shot Flagler 11-7 and held a 9-7 edge in corner kicks. The fouls were evenly distributed with 13 apiece.

Before the match, Flagler honored its four seniors: Matheus Carvalho, Tanner Hall, Juan Membreno and Jesper Olsson.
