COLUMBUS, Ga. – Riley Clark and Olivia Jarrell each scored two goals to lead No. 15 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll) Columbus State University to a 5-1 win over No. 9 Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex.
Columbus State extended its winning streak to nine matches and improved to 12-1-0 overall and 8-1-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler suffered its first loss since Nov. 2, last year, and fell to 12-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in conference play.
Clark scored the first goal of the match, in the 24
th minute, after Flo Spano had driven into the box and shuffled a touch pass over to Clark for the tap in.
Spano assisted on the next goal, by Amanda Murphy, in the 41
st minute.
The Lady Cougars took the 2-0 lead into the half.
Clark added her second goal of the match in the 58
th minute to extend Columbus State's lead.
Fio Fustagno got the Saints on the board in the 78
th minute when she knocked in a loose ball.
However, seven seconds later, Oliva Jarrell scored the first of her two goals after she took the ensuing kickoff and dribbled in to score.
Bria Rancho tallied one save on two shots on frame for the Lady Cougars.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel recorded three saves before giving way to
Maddison Lipson who collected two more in just over 20 minutes of work.
Columbus State out-shot Flagler 28-7 and held a 12-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler heads back out on the road on Wednesday (Oct. 25) to face Francis Marion University. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
