WINTER PARK, Fla. –
Charlene Nowotny scored a pair of goals to lift No. 5 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 poll) Flagler College to a 2-0 win over Rollins College in a non-conference women's soccer match Saturday night at the Barker Family Stadium at Cahall-Sandspur Field.
Flagler improved to 11-0-2 overall. The 11 wins are the most the program has recorded since going 14-5-0 in 2005. Rollins slipped to 3-7-2.
Nowotny got the Saints on the board in the 35
th minute when she knocked in a pass from
Katie Reed.
Nowotny added an insurance goal in the 54
th minute. The goal was her 11
th of the season, which are the most goals scored in a season by a Flagler player since Loren Cate had 13 in 2011.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel turned in her third clean sheet of the season and saved the lone shot on goal from the Tars. Her counterpart, Kelly Rowswell, tallied five saves for Rollins.
Flagler out-shot Rollins 11-5, but Rollins held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. Only 19 fouls were whistled with the Tars committing 12.
Flagler hosts the University of Tampa on Wednesday (Oct. 18) at 7 p.m. at Saints Field.
