ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University tied 2-2 after two overtimes in a physical men's soccer match Wednesday night at Saints Field. There were 40 fouls committed between the two teams with Flagler picking up 22.
The tie brought both the Saints and the Eagles records to 0-2-1 on the season.
In the second half, Embry-Riddle regained the lead in the 47
th minute when Knutur Bjornsson scored on a through ball from Moriba Ballah. Flagler evened the score again in the 60
th minute when
Oscar Davidsson put in a free ball in front of the goal for his first of the year.
Keiron Matthews also netted his first off the season in the 37
th minute for the Saints evening up the score after Moriba Ballah put the Eagles in front in the 34
th minute.
Flagler College outshot Embry-Riddle 24-8 during the game and 4-1 in overtime. Embry-Riddle's Richard Dearle collected 15 saves.
The two teams combined for 13 cards, which included one red on an Embry-Riddle player.
The Saints will head to Florence, South Caroina to face Carson-Newman University in a neutral sight game at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 10).
