ANDERSON, S.C. – Landon Goodman netted the game-winning goal in the 87
th minute of play, lifting Anderson University to a 2-1 win over Flagler College Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.
The loss drops Flagler to 0-2-0 on the season while Anderson improves to 2-0-0.
Gabriel Homen scored the first goal of the contest in the 47
th minute for Anderson, but Flagler evened the score in the 71
st minute. Flagler was awarded a penalty kick and
Rostand Ndong converted for the Saints for his first goal of the season.
After a scoreless first half of play, the Saints and Trojans were locked into a 1-1 match when Goodman broke the tie with just 3:41 to play.
Lex Craggs made seven saves for Flagler as Anderson got off 14 shots. The Saints recorded seven shots and Devon Ashy countered with three saves for the Trojans, keeping Flagler off the scoreboard.
All of Flagler's seven shots came in the second half. The Saints committed 15 fouls and the Trojans were called for 11 fouls.
The Saints return to St. Augustine to open the home campaign at Saints Field against Embry-Riddle University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
