Oscar Davidsson's goal in the 73
rd minute proved to be the game-winner as Flagler College downed Georgia Southwestern State University 2-1 in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Wednesday night at Saints Field.
Flagler won its second match in a row and improved to 2-5-1 overall and evened its PBC record at 2-2-0. Georgia Southwestern lost its third match in a row and fell to 1-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.
Pedro Silva's pass connected with Davidsson in the box which led to the goal.
Rostand Ndong scored the equalizer for the Saints with a goal in the 55
th minute. Essomba had a nice finish in the box off of an
Eamonn Moore pass.
Silvio Polly's goal gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead in the 7
th minute.
Lex Craggs tallied five saves for Flagler while Joshua Swift also recorded five saves for Georgia Southwestern.
The Saints out-shot the Hurricanes 15-13 and both teams had eight corner kicks. Flagler was whistled for 11 fouls while Georgia Southwestern was tagged for seven.
Flagler hosts the University of North Georgia on Saturday (Oct. 1) at 1 p.m. at Saints Field.
