Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Saints blank Falcons, 2-0

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Pedro Silva scored in the 30th minute to give Flagler College the early lead and the Saints went on to defeat the University of Montevallo 2-0 in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Saturday night at Varsity Field.
 
Flagler improved to 1-5-1 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play. Montevallo fell to 5-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference. Flagler was 0-3-0 all-time at Montevallo coming into this game.
 
The Falcons outshot the Saints 17-7, including 13-4 in the second half, but Lex Craggs kept Montevallo off the scoreboard with eight saves while Robert Kuta allowed two goals.
 
Silva broke the Saints' scoreless drought when he scored off of a free kick. Henrique Salomao picked up the assist. Flagler's last goal came on Sept. 7 against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Flagler padded its lead in the 86th minute when Oscar Davidsson netted the second goal of the game. Matheus Carvalho picked up the assist on Davidsson's insurance goal. The Saints were playing with a man advantage as a Montevallo player was issued his second yellow card in the 83rd minute.
 
Liam Moore was one of three Falcons with three shots in the game. Moore also had a game-high three shots on goal, all of which were stopped by Craggs.
 
The teams combined for 29 fouls with Flagler being whistled 18 times. The Falcons held a slight 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Saints return to St. Augustine for a matchup against Georgia Southwestern State University at Saints Field on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at 6:30 p.m.
