GREENWOOD, S.C. – Flagler College dropped a 2-0 contest to Lander University Thursday night in a Peach Belt Conference matchup at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Saints fell to 0-5-1 on the season overall and 0-2-0 in conference play. The Bearcats improved to 3-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference.
After a scoreless first half, Michael Leach scored his first two goals of the season in the 50
th and 90
th minute to lift the Bearcats to a 2-0 victory.
Samba Diop took two of the three shots on goal that the Saints offense attacked Dean Cowdroy with during the match. The Bearcats keeper made three saves in his shutout victory.
Lex Craggs made five saves for Flagler.
The Bearcats outshout the Saints, 15-10, and held the edge in corner kicks, 10-5.
Flagler will face the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama on Saturday (Sept. 24) at 7:30 p.m. (CT).
