MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Flagler College had a record breaking first game with a 19-5 rout of No. 8 (NFCA Division II Top 25) Georgia College, but then fell 8-5 in game two in a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Peeler Complex.
Flagler is now 18-17 overall and 3-9 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College is 25-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
In the opener, Flagler broke the school record for hits in a game with 21. The previous record was 20 at Florida Southern College on Feb. 19, 2013. The Saints tied the runs batted in record with 17 which was first accomplished at Armstrong State University on March 26, 2011.

Malloree Escue tied the school record for runs scored in a game with four. Escue tied the school record for hits in a game with four.
The Saints took an early 5-0 lead after two innings and then added two more in the fourth. Escue hit a one-out double in the fourth and
Mackenzie Conley followed with a double to give Flagler a 6-0 lead. Escue scored on a sacrifice fly later.
After the Bobcats plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth, the Saints added another three in the top of the third to extend their lead to 10-3.
Maddy Murphy hit a two-run single in the frame.
Flagler sent 13 batters to the plate in the seventh inning and scored nine runs on eight hits. Murphy and
Kayla Fuller each hit two-run singles in the inning. Escue had two hits in the same inning.
Tinsley Smith (2-2) picked up the win in relief for Flagler. She tossed 3.1 innings, allowed five hits and two unearned runs.
Haleigh Corbally started, but was pulled after 3.2 innings.
Escue went 4-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and three runs batted in. Murphy collected three singles, drove in four run and scored another. Woodard hit three singles, scored four runs, drove in a run and stole two bases.
Tori Volz also had three singles, but she scored two runs and had one RBI.
Mallory Allen collected three singles, knocked in three runs and scored a run.
Carly Lewis (12-4) took the loss in the circle for Georgia College. She was the first of four different pitchers and she tossed two innings, allowed eight hits and five runs. Offensively, Lewis led the Bobcats with three hits, all singles, and she drove in a run.
In game two, Georgia College needed a three-run fifth inning to hold off Flagler. Shawnda Martin and Kristen Brooks hit back-to-back home runs. Bernstein's was a pinch-hit two-run shot. Those two blasts gave the Bobcats an 8-2 lead through five innings.
The Saints plated three runs in the seventh to make things interesting. Flagler strung together three consecutive RBI singles.
Hannah Hudson had a pinch hit RBI single and then Escue and Conley followed with their own.
Marissa Boyette (9-3) went the distance for Georgia College and scattered seven hits while allowing five runs.
Taylor Campbell had a pair of doubles and two RBI. Lacey Najafi collected two singles and knocked in a run.
Callie Reed (7-6) took the loss in the circle for the Saints. She lasted 1.2 innings, surrendered four hits and three runs.
Conley went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Allen singled twice and she drove in a run.
Flagler will take on Augusta University tomorrow (March 21) at 1 p.m. at Augusta, Georgia.
